About

I've been working as a programmer in the video game industry for the last 16 years (and still am). During all this time, I've always toyed with the idea, as everyone else working in the field I guess, of rolling out my own video game. Being an insider, I know firsthand what it takes to create a game, or at least, the kind of game I want to create, and that's probably the reason I've been unconsciously putting it off.

After discovering Unity 3D some years ago I finally kind of got serious about it. At last, something that not only wouldn't force me to write C++ code, that evil programming language forged in The Cracks of Doom, but something that would let me use C#, one of the best languages I've ever put my hands on. I first started writing some classes to "adapt" some aspects of Unity I didn't like, which later turned into a lightweight framework that I bombastically called "The Guay Framework". After this, I started prototyping the core mechanics of the game.

Surely Unity 3D is making my life a lot easier, but still, I knew from the beginning that I couldn't do this alone. Not only I can't, I don't want to either. I just like teamwork, that's how I've grown up professionally and ain't changing that, so at some point I'll have to ask someone else to join. I thought it could be a good idea to write about the day-to-day of the development process and see if I was able to draw some attention and maybe a little community would develop around it. At this time, there's only me, thinking about concepts, game mechanics and coding prototypes for these mechanics. I also get some occasional help from a 3D artist who provides me with simple models to play with.

It's still very soon to figure out where this journey is going to take me, but while I'm at it, It'd be great to have some company on my adventures!
